Review Committees

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is in place to ensure that human subjects involved in research are adequately protected and that the  institution acts in accordance with the federal regulations regarding research with human subjects. Prior to the  initiation of any research efforts that involve human subjects, an IRB  review is required. Any issues can be directed to Melissa Beck, mdbeck@uncg.edu or 336.256.0253.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees all research involving animals. Prior to the initiation any research efforts involving the use of animals, all UNCG researchers must have IACUC approval. If you have any questions regarding your IACUC application please email ori@uncg.edu.

Institutional Biosafety Committee

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) ensures that research involving recombinant DNA and biological materials follows designated guidelines.  The IBC follows the guidelines established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Biotechnology Activities and The Center for Disease Control (CDC).
